Its sculptural vine twist design and individual grain make every piece unique. The open twist gives the substantial solid wood form a lighter visual feel. Each piece is carved from one wood block rather than assembled from laminated boards, and arrives fully assembled.

Hand-carved monkeypod wood

The material is solid monkeypod (Samanea saman), also called rain tree and marketed in the US as acacia. Haussmann's artisans in Thailand kiln-dry, rough-shape, and hand-carve the wood. Grain, knots, natural checks, mineral streaks, and chainsaw or chisel marks vary from piece to piece. Some areas may be smoothed or repaired with wood glue mixed with sawdust during finishing.

Four wood finishes

Walnut, Oak, Agate Grey, and Cherry describe the finish colors, not different wood species. Each table is monkeypod wood finished with OSMO Wood Wax Finish. The translucent finish lets the natural grain and underlying wood tones show through, so the shade of your table will vary from the photographs.

Sizes and specifications

Sizes (L x W x H): 12 x 12 x 22 in, 14 x 14 x 23 in, or 14 in round x 20 in

Product weight: approximately 27–28 lb for the 12 x 12 x 22 size; see the size guide below

Shipped weight: average 31 lb for the 12 x 12 x 22 size; see the size guide below

Shipping box (L x W x H): 14.5 x 14 x 24.5 in for the 12 x 12 x 22 size

Material: solid monkeypod wood (Samanea saman)

Finishes: Walnut, Oak, Agate Grey, or Cherry

Assembly: none

Origin: hand-carved in Thailand

Size and shipping guide

Table size (in)

Approx. product weight (lb)

Avg. shipping weight (lb)

Box L x W x H (in)

12 x 12 x 22

27–28

31

14.5 x 14 x 24.5

14 x 14 x 23

38–39

42

16.25 x 15.75 x 25.5

14 in round x 20

29–30

33

16.25 x 15.75 x 23.5

Weights are approximate averages rounded to whole pounds.
